In this interview with David Ampofo, first broadcast in 2009, the Acting Chief Executive of the Ghana National Petroleum Corporation (GNPC) talks about the future of Ghana’s emerging oil and gas industry.
‘This particular discovery of oil is prolific’, Nana Boakye Asafu-Adjaye contends. “In 2007 it was the largest oil field discovered in the whole world. The important thing is that it has opened up what we call a new petroleum province in Ghana in our offshore area.”
Nana Boakye Asafu Adjaye stresses that there are a lot of challenges ahead of the GNPC in the wake of these discoveries. He argues that there would be a need to strengthen the GNPC if it is to take up the key role of national oil company.
